About Boerhaave

The Boerhaave Medical Centre is named after Hermanus Boerhaave – a highly respected doctor and professor in clinical medicine in the seventeenth century. Thanks to his knowledge and expertise, the University of Leiden grew into the centre for medical teaching. Monarchs such as Francis I of Austria and Russia’s Tsar Peter I sought medical advice from Boerhaave.

A clinic where you feel at home

The Boerhaave Medical Centre is a specialist medical clinic on Museumplein in Amsterdam, just three minutes’ walk from the Concertgebouw, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum and Amsterdam’s most exclusive shopping street, PC Hooftstraat. The clinic was completely renovated between 1995 and 1997. In 2007, the operating theatre was upgraded to the highest cleanroom category, exercising the highest standard of sterility for operating theatres. We provide services under health insurance, such as neurology and internal medicine, as well as services outside the scope of health insurance, such as plastic surgery, where the costs are paid by you.

Specialists and staff at the Boerhaave Medical Centre are dedicated to providing you with the specialist medical support you need, making sure you receive a personal and friendly service which is as immediate as possible.

The clinic was established in 1995 by Ms. M. Elte Kreps, who sits on the Board.
