Birthmark removal
Some people may want to have a birthmark removed for aesthetic reasons. And sometimes it has to be removed on medical grounds.
You can make an appointment for a consultation with the plastic surgeon. This first consultation is free of charge.
The specialist will be able to tell you if such a procedure can be performed on you. And whether the result you want is achievable. During this consultation, the surgeon may show you pre-op and post-op photos.
Birthmark removal procedure
The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. The birthmark is simply lanced or cut off. It is then sent to the laboratory for further tests if the surgeon considers this necessary. The lab results will take about five working days.
Post procedure
You will be free to go home shortly after the procedure. You will go back to see the plastic surgeon a week after the procedure for a check-up and to have the stitches removed. Follow-up check-ups will be made in consultation with the specialist.
