Breast uplift
Breasts can start to sag or droop after pregnancies, extreme weight loss and aging. Breasts are primarily made up of fatty and glandular tissue, so exercising at the gym will not make any difference. An operation is often a possible solution.
You can make an appointment for a consultation with the plastic surgeon. This first consultation is free of charge.
The specialist will be able to tell you if such a procedure can be performed on you. And whether the result you want is achievable. During this consultation, the surgeon may show you pre-op and post-op photos.
Breast lift procedure
The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic and takes approximately two hours. A horizontal incision is made on the underside of the breast, via which the excess skin tissue is removed. Sometimes the nipple is also raised. This operation may also be combined with breast implants. After stitching the wound together, the plastic surgeon then applies a bandage.
Post procedure
In many cases it will be necessary to stay overnight at the clinic. You will then be able to go home the next day. The support bandage is to be kept on for one week. For optimum recovery, you are advised to continue wearing a sports bra day and night for four weeks after the bandages have been removed, and then a further two weeks during the daytime. You may have slightly reduced sensitivity in the breast and nipple, but this generally comes back after a while. The scars will slowly start to fade, but will never completely disappear. After a couple of months, the results will generally be plain to see.
After the operation, you obviously have to be careful. For a period of six weeks, you are to refrain from doing any strenuous exercise, lifting heavy weights or performing any heavy work.
You will go back to see the plastic surgeon a week after the procedure for a check-up and to have the bandage and stitches removed. You will then be measured for your new bra size. Follow-up check-ups will be made in consultation with the specialist.
