Calf augmentation

If people do a lot exercise or sport, their calves become fuller and more muscly. If exercise does not give the desired result, calves can be contoured to the desired shape by inserting one or more implants. These implants are available in various shapes and sizes. If, for example, your legs are different in shape due to illness, it is possible to have implants made especially for you.

You can make an appointment for a consultation with the plastic surgeon. This first consultation is free of charge.

The specialist will be able to tell you if such a procedure can be performed on you. And whether the result you want is achievable. During this consultation, the surgeon may show you pre-op and post-op photos.

Calf augmentation procedure

The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic and takes approximately one hour. A small incision is made in the back of the knee, through which one or more implants are inserted and positioned at the back and/or side of the calf. After the wound has been stitched together, it is covered in sticking plaster and a support stocking is applied.

Post procedure

After the operation, you will stay overnight at the clinic. You will then be able to go home the next day. The pressure of the implant on the leg may be quite painful after the procedure. So bed rest is advised for the first week, after which you may slowly start to bear weight again. In the beginning, the implant may feel quite hard, but this feeling will disappear over the course of time. You will go back to see the plastic surgeon a week after the procedure for a check-up and to have the sticking plaster and stitches removed. You will be required to keep wearing the support stocking for another couple of weeks. Follow-up check-ups will be made in consultation with the specialist.
