Ear correction

Sticking-out ears can be a source of irritation for those who have them – sometimes even leading to psychological problems. A minor procedure can correct the position of the ears, immediately dispersing any feelings of irritation and insecurity.

You can make an appointment for a consultation with the plastic surgeon. This first consultation is free of charge.

The specialist will be able to tell you if such a procedure can be performed on you. And whether the result you want is achievable. During this consultation, the surgeon may show you pre-op and post-op photos.

Ear correction procedure

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, taking less than an hour. A small incision is made at the back of the ear, then the cartilage is adjusted and a strip of skin is removed. This reduces the angle at which the ear protrudes from the head. After stitching up the incision, the ears are bandaged up in a sort of turban.

Post procedure

You will be free to go home shortly after the procedure. The bandage is to be kept on for one week. Care must be taken when sleeping, washing and exercising for the next few weeks. The ears may well remain red, swollen and oversensitive for a number of weeks. These symptoms will gradually disappear. After six or so weeks, the results will generally be plain to see.

You will go back to see the plastic surgeon a week after the procedure for a check-up and to have the bandage and stitches removed. A headband should still be worn for another week. Follow-up check-ups will be made in consultation with the specialist.
