Eyelid correction

Drooping eyelids can not only be a hindrance, they can also make you look tired and weary. This impression is exacerbated if the bottom eyelids also sag, forming bags. A minor procedure can be performed to help this problem.

You can make an appointment for a consultation with the plastic surgeon. This first consultation is free of charge.

The specialist will be able to tell you if such a procedure can be performed on you. And whether the result you want is achievable. During this consultation, the surgeon may show you pre-op and post-op photos.

Eyelid correction procedure

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, taking approximately half an hour. Depending on the correction, a small incision is made in the upper or lower eyelid, via which excess skin, fatty and sometimes even muscle tissue is removed. Once the wound has been stitched, it is covered with sticking plaster. Procedures to correct upper and lower eyelids can be carried out separately or at the same time.

Post procedure

You will be free to go home shortly after the procedure. The eyelids may be slightly swollen and bruised in the first week after the procedure. A special cooling eye patch can help ease these symptoms. In some cases, the eyes may feel quite dry or conversely water a lot. After a couple of weeks, this will clear up by itself. The small scars will quickly heal and will hardly be visible after a couple of months. You are not allowed to drive a car for a week after the procedure. You will go back to see the plastic surgeon a week after the procedure for a check-up and to have the sticking plaster and stitches removed. Follow-up check-ups will be made in consultation with the specialist.
