Mini-facelift / S-lift

Instead of having a facelift, it is also possible to opt for a mini-facelift. This procedure is less invasive. “Hamster cheeks” and deep creases coming down from the nose can be corrected by means of a mini-facelift. The jaw line is also made tighter. A mini-facelift will not remove wrinkles around the mouth, lips and eyes. There are other procedures available to ensure this. A mini-facelift may be combined with other procedures such as an eyelid correction, liposculpture of the neck, etc.

You can make an appointment for a consultation with the plastic surgeon. This first consultation is free of charge.

The specialist will be able to tell you if such a procedure can be performed on you. And whether the result you want is achievable. During this consultation, the surgeon may show you pre-op and post-op photos.

Mini-facelift procedure

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. A strip of skin is removed on both sides of the face. This narrow strip is in an S-shape – that’s why a mini-facelift is also referred to as an S-lift. After stitching the wound together, the plastic surgeon then wraps a support band around the head.

Post procedure

You will barely feel any pain after the operation. There may be some swelling and bruising around the treated areas. To prevent this as much as possible, you are advised to wear the support band for one week. After a few weeks, the results will generally be plain to see. You will go back to see the plastic surgeon a week after the procedure for a check-up and to have the support band and stitches removed. Follow-up check-ups will be made in consultation with the specialist.
