Forehead lift

Drooping eyebrows can make a face look quite gloomy. If the entire brow sags downwards, a forehead lift can improve the appearance of the face.

The specialist will be able to tell you if such a procedure can be performed on you. And whether the result you want is achievable. During this consultation, the surgeon may show you pre-op and post-op photos.

Forehead lift procedure

The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic and takes one to two hours. An incision is made from ear to ear in the hairline. Excess skin and fat is removed and the muscles are tightened. After stitching the wound together, the plastic surgeon then wraps a bandage around the head. This bandage is then removed the next day, before you go home. Your hair is then washed in the shower with the assistance of a nurse and you will be given an elastic headband. This headband is to be worn for a week.

Post procedure

After the operation, you will stay overnight at the clinic. You will then be able to go home the next day. The elastic headband is to be worn for a week.

After the operation, you obviously have to be careful. For a period of six weeks, you are to refrain from doing any strenuous exercise, lifting heavy weights or performing any heavy work. After a couple of months, the results will generally be plain to see. You will go back to see the plastic surgeon a week after the procedure for a check-up and to have the bandage and stitches removed. Follow-up check-ups will be made in consultation with the specialist.
