Lip reduction
To a large extent, your mouth determines the character of your face. Just as very thin lips can be a problem for some people, so can lips that are too big. An oversized top lip or protruding bottom lip can very easily be corrected by surgery.
You can make an appointment for a consultation with the plastic surgeon. This first consultation is free of charge.
The specialist will be able to tell you if such a procedure can be performed on you. And whether the result you want is achievable. During this consultation, the surgeon may show you pre-op and post-op photos.
Lip reduction procedure
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, taking approximately one hour. Depending on the shape of the lips, the surgeon removes skin and fatty tissue without leaving any visible scars. The stitches are made inside the mouth.
Post procedure
You will be free to go home shortly after the procedure. Your lips may be numb for a short while and you may have difficulty talking and chewing. For a week after the procedure, you should rinse your mouth out with a special product to prevent infection. You will be given a prescription for this product. After a couple of weeks, the results will generally be plain to see. You will go back to see the plastic surgeon a week after the procedure for a check-up and to have the stitches removed. Follow-up check-ups will be made in consultation with the specialist.
